LuminaPoultry

Packed in hours. Confirmed in days.

A bird goes from live hang to packed parts within a shift. FSIS confirms a Salmonella positive five to six days after collection. Lumina is the record that closes that gap: live today for the lab results, checks and issues on your floor, with a line-side sensor in build.

The gap

A rinse describes one bird at one moment.

Between samples, the surfaces carrying risk go unobserved, and the cost shows up as margin long before it shows up as an incident.

FSIS draws carcass rinses and parts samples on its own schedule. Your plant draws its own process-control samples at pre-chill and post-chill, tested in-house or at a contract lab. Each result describes a moment that has passed by the time it comes back, and FSIS confirms a Salmonella positive five to six days after collection.

The cost lands on the P&L: a Salmonella category that buyers read before FSIS acts on it, customer specs that can reject a lot, and antimicrobials dosed toward the top of their validated range because nobody can see whether they need to be.

Confirmed result

5–6 days

FSIS laboratory, collection to a confirmed Salmonella positive (MLG Appendix 3.08).

Category 3

57%

of comminuted-chicken ratings in FSIS's Salmonella category data, April 2025 to April 2026.

After a Category 3

16

follow-up samples FSIS draws, with a public health risk evaluation and the plant's name on the FSIS site.

Live today

The record of a poultry plant, before a sensor is mounted.

  1. 01

Rinse and parts results, pinned where they were taken

Lab reports parsed into structured results, matched to the sample and pinned to the point it came from. A positive files an issue by itself, with an owner and a due date.

  2. 02

    Intervention checks with a range

Antimicrobial titrations and pH, chiller temperatures and dwell, and calibration checks, each a monitoring point with the range it should stay in. A reading outside it is flagged and asks for the corrective action.

  3. 03

Holds and line stops, with their cause

Logged from the floor as an issue: who saw it, when, why, and who closed it. One clock for production, sanitation and QA.

  4. 04

    Your plan, cited

Your HACCP plan, SSOPs, 9 CFR 381, 416 and 417, and FSIS Directive 7120.1 in the Library. Ask answers only from them, cites the passage, and says so when they cannot support an answer.

Live on the web and in the mobile app (iOS and Android), offline included. Not yet deployed at a plant. We're looking for the design partners who will run it first.

In build

A sensor for the surfaces between your samples.

Lumina Detect is a line-side sensor, lab-demonstrated and in build, designed to read pathogen-risk signatures off a surface in milliseconds and tell your program where the next swab should go.

  1. 01

    Pre-operational inspection

Designed to give the pre-op inspection a reading of the surfaces a flashlight misses, and to flag one that did not come clean. The startup call stays with QA.

  2. 02

    Post-chill, debone and pack surfaces

Conveyors, cone lines, drop-offs and portioning surfaces. Designed to mount on its own bracket beside the line, with no PLC integration.

  3. 03

    Further out: the product itself

Whether product leaving an intervention reads cleaner than product entering it, on this shift, at production speed. It would not validate the intervention. Reading product on the line is the longer-term work.

A surface measurement: it cannot see inside intact muscle, and it reads risk signatures at colony scale, not single cells. Confirmatory testing stays the record of your program, and a sensor flag is never a release criterion. See how the sensor works →

Design partners

Bring one line, one intervention point and the person who owns them. We will build the record around them.

No fee during the pilot, and converting is your decision on the measured result. The post-pilot price is in writing before it starts.
